How to Stay Connected
Tips to create and maintain a strong bond with your child when emotions become MESSY!
Resist the feeling that you need to fix your child when they become dis-regulated.
Resist the thought that you may be responsible for your child's emotions.
During messy moments try to encourage, support and empathize with your child's feelings.

Feelings that may be erupting are usually not from the current event- that is just what touched it off.
Play with your child for 5 uninterrupted minutes each day.
Let your child lead the play.
Resist teaching lessons, just play with them.
